Whitmore School – Sixth Form

The brief was to create a central hub for the Sixth Formers at Whitmore High School. This was to incorporate an area for self-service, and student lunch storage, as well as a high-street style coffee bar.

With tough competition from local fast food outlets, it was important that the new coffee bar had strong, graphic styling. This helps to appeal to the age range of the user, as well as forming a hub space for collaborative working.

We utilised a clean colour palette of grey, beige and black to create a neutral backdrop to enhance the life span of the counters, with splashes of pink through the neon sign to add vibrancy and a sense of fun to the area. The additional digital screen can also be changed with signage, menus or artwork to work along side this.

The feature mid height planter acts as a dividing panel to form the back drop of the self-serve area, and has the benefit of hiding the microwave behind. Green foliage and pendant lighting help to dress up the space.

The end result is a practical, durable and fun space which sits seamlessly within the Sixth Form Common Room.
